1.Warm- up: Sing a song (5’)

*Aims: to create a friendly and active atmosphere in the class to beginning the lesson.

*Procedure:

- Spend a few minutes revising the previous lesson by asking the class to sing the chant in Lesson 2 along with the video on the projector and clap their hands. (2.1.CB1a)

- Have pupils open their books and look at Lesson 3

2. Knowledge construction: (8’)

Activity 1. Listen and repeat:

*Aims: Ss will be able to listen and repeat the exchange: “How many clocks?” – Two.

*Procedures:

- Have pupils look at the picture and ask them to listen and repeat the word. Then let them point to the picture again and ask How many clocks? Can

you see two clocks? Yes, two clocks.

- Get pupils to point to the first bubble, listen to the questions and repeat. Then have them point to the second bubble and repeat the answer.

- Play the digital audio recording on the laptop several times for pupils to listen and repeat the exchange accurately. (2.1.CB1a)

- Divide the class into two groups, one group listens and repeats the question and the other does the answer.

- Invite a few pairs to act out the exchange in front of the class.

3. Practice: (17’)

Activity 2 Let’s talk:

*Aims: Ss will be able to ask and answer questions about the numbers of things, using “How many _____?” – ” _____.”

*Procedure:

- Have pupils look at the digital bubbles displayed on the smart TV to understand how the structure is used (How many ____? – ____). (1.1.CB1a)

- Have pupils point to Picture a and Point

to the clocks on the left and ask them How many clocks? Tell them that there are two, saying Two.

- Ask the class to say the question How many clocks? and the answer Two several times

- Follow the same procedure with the rest of the pictures by getting pupils to point to the pictures, asking and answering the questions individually and then in pairs.

- If time allows, invite some pairs to point to the pictures and act out the exchanges in front of the class.

Activity 3. Let’s sing

*Aims: Ss will be able to sing a song with numbers from one to five using the structure “There are _____.”

*Procedure:

- Have pupils read the first, the third, the fifth and the seventh lines of the lyrics. Explain the meaning of the numbers.

- Ask pupils to point to the first line on the screen, then play the digital recording from the laptop for them to listen and repeat for several times. (2.1.CB1a)

- Follow the same procedure with the third, the fifth and the seventh lines of the lyrics. Check pronunciation, the tune and the melody of the song, if necessary.

- Have pupils point to the second line. Play the recording for them to listen and repeat individually and in chorus.

- Follow the same procedure with the fourth, the sixth and the eighth lines.

- Play the recording all the way through for class to sing the song and clap their hands

- If there is enough time, select some pupils to the front of the class to sing the song.

- The class may sing along and clap their hands.

4. Fun corner and wrap- up: (5’)

Memory game (PPT slides)

- Have pupils play the game in groups.

- Write on board the number from 1 to 10

- Show pictures/slides of different objects. Then hide the pictures. Ask How many…?

- Have 1 pupil of each group run to the board and slap the number.

- For the next one, have Ss say both the question and the answer. Provide help if necessary.

-Ss listen and sing
