1.Warm- up: (5’) Sing a song

*Aims: to create a friendly and active atmosphere in the class to beginning the lesson.

*Procedure:

- Greet the class and introduce yourself, saying: Hi. I’m + name.

- Have a group of pupils to sing the chant on page 7 in front of the class. The class claps hands.

- Get pupils to open their books and look at Lesson 3 p. 8

2. Knowledge construction: (10’)

Activity 1. Listen and repeat:

*Aims: Ss will be able to listen and repeat the sentences “Hi, I’m Bill.” and “Bye, Bill

*Procedures:

- Have pupils look at the picture and describe it.

- Have pupils look at the sentence “Hi, I’m Bill.”, saying Look at the sentence “Hi, I’m Bill.”, please!

- Play the digital recording from the laptop several times for pupils to listen and repeat the sentence. (1.1.CB1a)

- Invite a few pupils to listen and repeat the sentence “Hi, I’m Bill.” in front of the class.

- Play the recording for pupils to listen and repeat.

- Play the recording again and let pupils listen and repeat the sentence “Bye, Bill.”

- Correct pronunciation to make sure pupils can repeat correctly the sentence.

3. Practice: (15’)

Activity 2. Let’s talk:

*Aims: Ss will be able to greet and introduce their names, using “Hi, I’m _____.” and to say goodbye to each other, using “Bye, _____.”

*Procedure:

- Have pupils look at the picture and ask them to describe the picture.

- Ask pupils to work in pairs or in groups to practise greeting each other in the name of Bill and Ba

- Ask pupils to work in pairs or in groups to practise saying goodbye to each other in the name of Bill and Ba

- Ask a few pairs of pupils to introduce themselves

- Ask a few pairs of pupils to say goodbye to each other

- Encourage some pairs of pupils to practise introducing themselves and saying goodbye to each other in front of the class.

- Give feedback and praise.

Activity 3. Let’s sing

*Aims: Ss will be able to sing a song with the structures “Hi, I’m ___ .” and“Hi, ___. I’m ___

*Procedure:

- Have pupils look at the song and ask them to pay attention to the letter B/b and the word Bill.

- Play the digital recording of the first line on the laptop for pupils to listen and to get familiarized with the tune. (2.1.CB1a)

- Play the recording again, ask pupils to listen and repeat the first line. Then play the recording for them to listen and repeat until they feel confident.

- Follow the same procedure with the other lines. Show pupils how to chant and clap their hands.

- Play the recording all the way through. Ask pupils to listen and repeat the song individually and in chorus.

- Select some pupils to the front of the class to sing and clap their hands.

- If they sing the song well, praise them, saying Well done! or Very good.

4. Fun corner and wrap- up: (5’)

Game: Slap the board (ppt)

- Have Ss play Slap the board game with the words bike, book and ball.

- SS say: Hello. I’m + name.

-Ss listen and sing

-Ss open their books.

-Look at the picture and listen.

-Listen and repeat.

-Ss observe and identify digital images and audio recordings of the characters displayed on the smart TV. (1.1.CB1a)
