Lesson 1A: Period 1

 

Duration (period): 35 minutes

 

I. OBJECTIVES:

1. Knowledge:

Students will be able to use the words related to the topic Commands in class: stand up, sit down, come in, go out, raise your hand, clap your hands, look at the board, listen, be quiet and review the structure

  • Stand up!

= Stand up, please!

  • May I sit down/go out?
  • Yes, you can
  • No, you can’t

2. Competences:

- English competences: Students will be able to learn about commands in class.

- Common competences: Students will have opportunity to develop the autonomy in doing tasks and communication among friends.

3. Qualities:

- Students will be friendly and confident in communicating with friends.

II. EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS:

- For Teacher: PP, TV, music, relating audio track.

- For students: papers, colour pencils or crayons, personal boards and markers.

III. LESSON PROCEDURE:

Activity 1: Warm up (3 minutes)

Watch and sing: Hello song

- Teacher divides the class into 4 groups named: snake, tiger, monkey, elephant.

- Ask students to watch the video, dance and sing along the song

- Sit in 4 circles of each group.

 

- Watch the video, dance and sing along the song.

 

Activity 2: Presentation (10 minutes)

Lead-in: Use the Opener picture to lead in the topic: Commands in class.

Vocabulary: Listen and point. Repeat.

- Play the words one by one with picture of each activity

- Play the audio, ask students to listen and repeat in chorus, groups.

- Vocabulary checking: Ask the students to recall all the words they have learnt.

Sentence structure:

- Present the structure with picture and ask the students to repeat.

- Sentence structure checking: Ask the students to use the sentence structure to make commands in class

Game: Pooh bear looking for honey

- Lead-in: Introduce the game rule: Student raise hand to choose a number. Each number will lead to a question and their mission is to answer it correctly. If the choosing student has an incorrect answer or doesn’t have an answer, other students can raise their hand, say the answers.

- Play the game.

- Show the questions and check if the answers are correct or not.

- Learn the words and structures through pictures.

- Repeat the words.

 

- Say aloud the words

 

- Learn the structures and repeat the sentences

Activity 3: Practice (12 minutes)

- Play the audio and check the answer.

- Read the whole sentence and ask students to repeat.

 

Task 2: Practice. Point and say (3 minutes)

- Introduce and show the exercise.

- Have students play in pairs.

- Ask each pair of students to point at the picture and say aloud their answers.

- Read the whole sentence and ask students to repeat.

Game: Secret presents (4 minutes)

- Lead-in: Introduce the game rule. Students return and sit in the 4 groups in warm-up activity. Group will be prioritized to choose a number randomly. Each number will lead to a question and point and their mission is to answer it correctly. If the choosing group has an incorrect answer or doesn’t have an answer, other groups can raise their hand, say the answers and gain point. Teacher will give groups point for each correct answer.

- Play the game.

- Show the questions and check if the answers are correct or not.

- Award the best group.

- Watch the pictures and circle the answers.

- Read aloud the sentence.

 

- Listen to the audio and do cross-check

- Repeat the sentence
